New Patient Exam
A new patient exam with Dr. Jackson includes a comprehensive oral health assessment and an interactive discussion about your concerns, goals, and expectations. In your clinical exam, we will inspect every tooth in your mouth, looking for decay, damage, or faulty dental work. We'll also screen for oral cancer and periodontal disease, then check your occlusion (bite). Digital X-rays and photos will help Dr. Jackson accurately diagnose your dental situation. He'll show you his findings, then work with you to develop a treatment plan that suits your lifestyle and optimizes your oral health.
In summation, your exam will include:
- Oral cancer screening
- Tooth-by-tooth inspection
- Periodontal charting (learn more about gum disease)
- TMJ/Occlusion analysis (learn more about bruxism)
- Digital X-rays (if required)
- Digital Photos (if required)
- Diagnostic Models (for advanced cosmetic dentistry or restorative dentistry cases)
The American Dental Association recommends exams twice annually for all patients, beginning at age one. Even those with great oral hygiene should visit the dentist regularly. Why? Because Dr. Jackson can detect small problems not visible to the naked eye and correct them before they require more advanced dental work. At your cleaning, Dr. Jackson and our team will remove built-up plaque and tartar from your teeth and below the gumline. This helps prevent gum disease, eliminates the source of bad breath, and reduces staining.
