Gum Disease Therapy
Gum disease, also called periodontal disease, often goes unnoticed because it causes few, if any, symptoms and usually no pain. However, gum disease can quickly worsen to cause gum recession, tooth loss, bone degeneration, and many overall health risks.
Studies have linked gum disease to stroke, heart attack, respiratory problems, diabetes complications, low-weight births, and osteoporosis. The mouth is the funnel through whish outside elements enter it body. It only stands to reason that infection in the mouth, like gum disease, will eventually lead to overall health issues.
Our dental hygiene team is trained and equipped to detect, treat, and reverse the effects of gum disease. We will monitor your periodontal health and record any changes that may indicate early signs of problems. If you have gum disease, we may suggest non-surgical therapy in our office. For instance, scaling removes tartar (hardened plaque) from below the gum line; root planing smoothes rough areas on teeth roots where plaque tends to build up; antibiotic treatment destroys bacterial infection. Severe cases of periodontitis will be referred to a specialist.
Our Carrollton dental office serves patients from across the DFW area, including those from Dallas, Lewisville, Plano, The Colony, Coppell, and beyond. Call today to schedule your consultation with Dr. Jackson and set out on a road for lifetime oral wellness and an unforgettable smile.
